PHOENIX (Thursday, July 25, 2013) — The Roosevelt Row Community Development Corporation will host the second Chile Pepper Festival, Saturday, September 28, 2013. Ticket sales begin Friday, July 26, with a $ 5 discount for purchasing early.


The Roosevelt Row Chile Pepper Festival kicks off its second season by presenting local restaurants, chefs, and gourmet food trucks competing in a Chile Challenge for the best, most delicious, chile pepper inspired cuisine. On-site chile roasting, live music, Deschutes Beer Garden, margarita station and a local talent show hosted by Lawn Gnome Publishing add an extra splash to the event. Winners of the Chile Challenge, onsite Salsa Showdown and crowning of this year’s Chile Pepper Queen will be announced at the finale of the event.

Roosevelt Row CDC is committed to building a vibrant, dense, diverse, walkable and bikeable urban arts district in downtown Phoenix. In April 2013, Roosevelt Row co-produced Feast on the Street with the ASU Art Museum. In 2011, the first Phoenix Food Truck Festival sold out in record time. 2012’s Chile Pepper Festival exceeded expectations with more than 3,000 guests. Monthly events in Roosevelt Row include A.R.T.S. Markets, Third Fridays and First Fridays.


Funds generated from the Chile Pepper Festival will be used to facilitate and sustain important community art and urban agricultural projects throughout the Roosevelt Row Arts District.
